Hygiene Glass Case Studies

Grand Millennium Auckland

Grand Millennium Hotel Auckland

Auckland, New Zealand

ClearShield New Zealand, Ritec International’s Marketing Partner in the region, was approached by the hotel to discuss renovating and protecting glass bath and shower screens. This would be significantly cheaper, quicker and less disruptive than replacement. Additionally, ClearShield’s ability to resist bacteria (which viruses depend on to replicate) creates a more hygienic environment, a major benefit during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Local fully-trained ClearShield® applicators, ClearShield Auckland, were contracted to carry out the job and upgraded over 430 bath and shower screens. Work started in December 2021 working under stringent Quarantine restrictions. Additional areas, such as the lift glass, the lift surround and restaurant glass were all treated, and all work was completed in time for the hotel’s re-opening in June 2022 when Covid restrictions in the country were more relaxed.

With all treated glass looking as good as new, this helped ensure guests felt safer in the post-lockdown period.

King's College

King's College

Cambridge, UK

Go Glass, an independent glass design company in Cambridge designed, produced and installed protective glass screens for King’s College, a constituent college of the University of Cambridge.

Go Glass were commissioned to design bespoke glass protection screens for this historic college, founded in 1441 by King Henry VI. Drawing on the experience of their Design Director and his team, and utilising specialist glass processes including UV bonding, Go Glass proudly supplied and installed these glass screens to the Porters’ Lodge. The screens incorporated the King’s College logo, etched onto Go Glass’s toughened ‘hygiene glass’.

Go Glass’s hygiene glass is powered by award-winning, ‘non-stick’ easy-clean Ritec ClearShield® glass surface treatment. Not only is treated glass easier to maintain and looks pristine for longer, it has been independently tested to resist the adhesion of bacteria. Porters’ Lodge staff and visitors are now adequately protected from each other, and any germs on the screens will not adhere to the surface, so are easily removed during cleaning. These measures help to promote a more hygienic environment.
