ClearShield Strikes the Right Chord with Vivaldi

Over 15,000m² of ClearShield Low-M® (Low Maintenance) Glass are being installed in a pioneering new office block in Amsterdam…

The eco-friendly Vivaldi building features a zero emission heating and cooling system using geothermal power. Ritec’s ClearShield glass surface protection system will ensure all glazing retains its high photometric properties by remaining resistant to staining and weathering, despite the building’s busy urban location. Cleaning time and costs will also be reduced, with no need for harsh chemicals to keep the glass in pristine condition.

Spanning 23-storeys, Vivaldi will provide 30,000m² of office space for global accounting and consulting firm, Ernst and Young. Scheuten Glasgroep is supplying all the specialist glass for the project in accordance with the building’s exacting specification. This includes 10,000m² of solar controlled glass with a value of 68/34, with each insulated unit part laminated with fire resistant glass, plus a further 5,000m² of coloured tempered glass panels.

ClearShield is being applied to the insulated glass units and panels prior to installation in the building’s façade. Although Scheuten Glasgroep is a licensed applicator of ClearShield, given the scale and demanding standards of this prestigious contract it, decided to outsource this aspect of the project to Bohle ClearShield.  The treatment will be completed at its application centre in Raamsdonksveer.

The ClearShield System is based on a special polymeric resin, which provides the surface protection. Applied as a liquid, ClearShield reacts with the glass and becomes an integral part of the surface by forming a protective treatment that chemically bonds to the surface and measures less than a micron in thickness.

Bohle ClearShield was formed as a Joint Venture between Bohle AG and Ritec International Limited to develop European market opportunities for Ritec’s ClearShield glass surface protection technology.
