ClearShield protected glass offers a unique solution that resists the damaging effects of corrosion and unsightly staining. Treated glass looks like new for longer, resulting in increased visibility and safety - especially on the bridge - plus improved passenger comfort and satisfaction. Maintenance is made easier and less time consuming, and reduced cleaning, water consumption and chemicals bring both cost savings and environmental benefits.
At this year’s Convention, Ritec will be demonstrating the ClearShield System as a tried and tested solution for renovating, protecting and maintaining new and existing marine glass. Visitors to the stand can see the System’s many benefits in DVD presentations and displays. These include glass in a model of a cruise ship balcony and Ritec’s famous ‘mud dome’, which shows the amazing difference between ClearShield protected and unprotected glass.

ClearShield can be used to treat interior and exterior marine glass on any scale. Quick and easy to apply, ClearShield’s advanced polymeric resin formula bonds to the glass surface, providing a durable and totally transparent barrier, which is chemically inert, non-hazardous, UV stable and won’t peel, crack or flake. It is applied by Ritec’s specialist marine team to new glass during a ship’s construction or to already installed / corroded glass thanks to the System’s advanced renovation process. When applied to new glass, adhesive residue from protective film or any paint marks are all removed as part of the service, and a scratch removal service is also available to ensure glass surfaces are in pristine condition.
Stefan Roelands, Business Development and Project Manager at Ritec International Marine Services comments, “ClearShield has been used successfully on all types of marine glass and offers highly effective and durable protection against the well known problems of glass corrosion and contamination from the harsh sea environment.”
Ritec International Marine Services has more than 25 years experience in the marine sector and its specialist team has treated glass on a wide variety of vessels, including cruise liners in the Princess Cruises fleet, one of the world’s premier cruise lines, and most recently Cunard’s new luxury liner, the Queen Victoria.
