Ritec's new ClearShield Food & Hygiene formulation not only gives glass and ceramic surfaces stain-resistant and low-maintenance properties, it is anti bacterial so is suited for areas where good hygiene is paramount, hollowware and food preparation/processing areas. Hospitals, laboratories and food contact areas will all benefit from this latest addition to the ClearShield range.

For ovenware, glass oven doors and hobs, ClearShield Heat Performance is the ideal grade as its added thermal inhibitor means greater heat resistance. Both these formulations meet EU and US FDA requirements for direct contact with all types of food, as confirmed by an independent laboratory accredited by UKAS, the UK Accreditation Service.

The ClearShield range is part of the ClearShield System for the renovation, protection and maintenance of glass. Ordinary glass can be converted to ClearShield Low-M® (Low-Maintenance) Glass so it resists staining and discolouration, is easier to clean and keep clean and stays cleaner for longer. ClearShield can be applied to all glass, including architectural, decorative/sandblasted, shower enclosures, marine, residential, automotive, even solar panels. With over 25 years of experience, award-winning ClearShield can be found on glass on Lloyd’s of London and the new Shanghai World Finance Center (currently the world's tallest completed building by roof). It has also been applied on shower glass in London’s Sanderson and Dorchester hotels and even on luxury cruise liners from operators such as Princess Cruises and P&O.

ClearShield generates more and more interest among architects and specifiers as it helps save time and money during a building’s construction. During this phase, concrete splatter, cement dust and slurry, as well as other types of alkaline construction materials, damage and corrode the surface of glass. Water run-off carrying contaminants and air pollution containing chemicals can also adhere to the glass surface, and if allowed to bond to the glass, cleaning is either very expensive or impossible, requiring the costly replacement of the glass itself. Inadequately protected glass results in a dirty and unsightly look, expensive clean down and lengthy delays in construction. It also leads to dissatisfied customers and occupants because of a spoiled glass façade.

ClearShield is applied either in the factory on new glass, or onsite if already installed. Ritec has a specialist Onsite Team to treat glass with the ClearShield System, making it look as good as new with the added benefit of lower maintenance requirements.

Also on display will be the Ritecoat System, developed for the onsite renovation, protection and maintenance of aluminium, stainless steel and powder coated surfaces. These surfaces treated with Ritecoat restores the finish an ‘as-new’ appearance and makes them ‘non-stick’ and significantly easier to clean.
