A Welcome in the Valleys for ClearShield Glass Surface Protection
‘It sells itself!’ is how Windsor Glass in South Wales describes Ritec’s unique ClearShield glass surface protection System...
The Swansea-based company is now one of the region’s top ClearShield applicators, providing proven protection for an extensive array of glass applications, from commercial balustrades and kitchen splash-backs to shower screens and even a 50mm laminated glass floor for a new nightclub.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Windsor Glass has built a reputation for supplying quality glass products to the trade and direct to the public. Its specialist services include brilliant cutting, bevelling and sandblasting. A team of in-house designers works alongside the company’s highly skilled glass craftsmen, producing intricate patterns on decorative glass items such as mirrors, cabinet doors, doors and screens using the latest CAD/CAM computer software.
John Lewis of Windsor Glass says ClearShield is an important added-value service, not only for protecting against staining and making the glass easier to clean, but also enhancing its appearance – particularly sandblasted glass. “In fact, we believe ClearShield is a must for sandblasted glass,” he comments.
Windsor’s talented team can generate standard or custom-made images and apply deep sandblasting and sand carving techniques, if required, to create stunning three-dimensional effects. “The textured and etched surface leaves the glass especially vulnerable to ingrained dirt and fingermarks, which are very difficult to remove,” explains John Lewis. “ClearShield Sandblast Protect is the best solution available, making the glass significantly easier to clean. Also, the glass resembles the satin finish of acid-etched glass, which is very attractive.”

ClearShield is easily and safely applied onto glass in Windsor Glass’ factory, giving high-quality and durable protection, resulting in a uniform finish every time. Many of Windsor Glass’ clients now request ClearShield protection because they appreciate the benefits it brings, says John Lewis. “Whether it’s glass for a conservatory or decorative glazed doors and panels in a hotel or hairdressing salon, ClearShield glass will stay looking like new for longer and cleaning frequency is cut, on average, by 50%, saving both time and money for our clients.”
Ritec’s ClearShield is part of a fully integrated system for the renovation, protection and maintenance of all kinds of exterior and interior glass, including residential windows and architectural glazing. It is either applied onto new glass in the factory before installation using manual or automatic spraying equipment, or manually on-site for glass already installed.
